Where to stay after a late arrival into Heathrow Terminal 5

The short answer: If you could land after 23:00, stay at the hotel you can walk to. The pod stops at 00:15 and the hotel bus at midnight, and a delay can push you past both.

Who it suits
Scheduled arrivals after 22:00, and anyone who does not want a delay to decide their night.
Why we would choose it
You walk from Terminal 5 under cover in under five minutes, whatever time you land. There is no last departure to miss.
The compromise
Usually the highest room rate on this list, for a room you may only sleep in for a few hours.
Worth paying more?
Yes for a late landing. The cheaper stays stop being cheap once you add a taxi after midnight.

Who it suits

Why we would choose it
The pod takes five minutes and keeps running until 00:15, later than the hotel buses.
The compromise
The pod leaves from the Terminal 5 car park, costs £8.75 per person, and stops at 00:15. Land late and you need a taxi.
Worth paying more?
Over the bus hotel, yes: the pod runs a little later and does not keep to a timetable you have to meet.

Who it suits
Evening arrivals that are comfortably before the last bus.
Why we would choose it
The Hotel Hoppa bus runs from Terminal 5 until midnight and the ride is about ten minutes.
The compromise
The bus stops at midnight and runs about every half hour, so a delayed flight can leave you paying for a taxi.
Worth paying more?
For a landing after 22:30 we would pay the extra for the hotel you can walk to.
