Pet-friendly hotels near Heathrow: what's allowed, what it costs and what to ask

The short answer: Four hotels near Heathrow say they take dogs, and none is a walk from a terminal. Hyatt Place is the one we already cover and the closest to a terminal. Fees run from £10 to £30 a night, so ring the hotel before you book.

Last checked · How we check

Most hotels near Heathrow do not take pets. A few do, and the policies are easy to get wrong because booking sites often disagree with the hotel itself. This guide lists the four we found that say they accept dogs, the fee and limits each one gives, and the larger hotels that say no.

None of the four is joined to a terminal. Each is a short ride away on the Bath Road or the M4 side of the airport, so plan on a bus or a taxi with your pet and your bags. Fees and limits come from the hotels' own pages and from third-party listings, and they change. Confirm the detail with the hotel before you book.

The four hotels that say yes

Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport

The one hotel here we already cover. Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport lists dogs only, up to 22.6 kg each, with up to two per room. The fee is £25 per pet per night. Pets must be on a lead in public areas and kept out of dining spaces. Some booking sites say the opposite, so check before you pay.

The Hotel Hoppa bus stops at the entrance, which makes it the simplest of the four for Terminals 2, 3 and 5.

Sheraton Skyline Hotel London Heathrow

Marriott describes the Sheraton Skyline as dog friendly and welcomes trained pets for a fee. Its page lists £15 a day and a 20 kg limit, while Expedia and Travelocity say £10 per pet per night. Pets are not allowed in the restaurants or the gym. It is a large hotel on the Bath Road in Hayes.

Crowne Plaza London Heathrow (Stockley Road)

This is the M4-side Crowne Plaza, not the Terminal 4 one. IHG lists it as dog and cat friendly at £20 per pet per night. You must tell the hotel you want a pet room before you arrive, by phone on the number on its IHG page. Only dogs and cats are accepted, and restrictions apply.

Staybridge Suites London Heathrow, Bath Road

An aparthotel with kitchens, which suits a longer stay with a pet. Booking sites list £30 per pet per night, for dogs and cats. IHG's own page is less specific and says pets are allowed depending on size and at the hotel's discretion, so ask about a large dog.

Hotels that say no

These larger hotels list assistance animals only. We have this from third-party sites, not from the hotels, so ask if it matters.

  • Sofitel London Heathrow
  • Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel
  • Radisson RED London Heathrow
  • Crowne Plaza London Heathrow T4, whose own page mentions only guide dogs. Do not confuse it with the Crowne Plaza above.

We have not found a pet policy for the Hilton hotels, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn Express, ibis, Thistle or Moxy at Heathrow. Assume no until the hotel tells you otherwise.

If your pet is flying

Most pets do not travel in the cabin. Dogs and cats usually fly in the hold, and many airlines and routes have their own rules. Check the airline's pet policy and Heathrow's own animal pages well before your trip, because paperwork, crates and booking times are strict.

A hotel stay before a pet's flight is rare, so ask the hotel what it allows if you plan to leave a pet in the room at any point.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome at every hotel above and are not charged a pet fee. Tell the hotel before you arrive so it can note the room.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What is the fee, and is it per pet or per night?
  • Which pets do you accept, and is there a size or weight limit?
  • How many pets can share a room?
  • Can I leave my pet alone in the room, even for a short time?
  • Are pets allowed in any restaurant, lobby or garden?
  • Do I need to request a pet room, and how far ahead?
