Who it suits: Families with young children, a buggy or a lot of luggage, and any early international flight.
Why we would choose it: It is 181 steps from the Terminal 1 check-in counters, by the airport's count, with nothing to catch. Its family suite is listed with one king bed and two singles, and from our own stays the rooms are spacious and quiet.
The compromise: Listings disagree on whether the family suites sleep four or five, so check the room against your family when you book.
Worth paying more?: With small children or an early flight, usually yes. Not having to get four people onto a shuttle is what you are paying for.

Who it suits: Families on a mid-morning or later flight who want a larger hotel.
Why we would choose it: Its Family Room is listed at about 38 square metres with one king bed and two singles, in a large hotel under a kilometre from Terminal 1 by one guide.
The compromise: The shuttle is charged per person, so four of you pay four fares each way, and the first run is at about 04:30 or 05:00.
Worth paying more?: For an early flight with children we would pay for the walk.

Check before you book

That the room you book sleeps everyone. "Family room" does not always mean four.
Your children's ages against the hotel's child policy. The age limits differ from hotel to hotel.
A cot, if you need one. Ask when you book.
Whether children pay the full shuttle fare, if your stay depends on one.
