Where to stay before a flight from Heathrow Terminal 2 if you prefer a calm, short start

The short answer: Stay at the hotel joined to Terminal 2 by a covered walkway. The cheaper options all rely on a bus, and the bus is where the morning gets stressful.

Typical total
£130–£220
Who it suits
Anyone who wants the shortest, calmest route to Terminal 2 and finds waiting or boarding a bus tiring.
Why we would choose it
It is joined to Terminal 2 by a covered walkway, about five minutes on foot. There is no bus to meet and no change of vehicle with bags.
The compromise
A full-service hotel priced above the bus options, and it is a longer walk if your flight leaves from Terminal 3.
Worth paying more?
Yes, if you are trying to take the steps and waiting out of the morning. The extra pays for a route with no moving parts.

Who it suits
Travellers who only need a few hours of rest and are comfortable with a longer indoor walk.
Why we would choose it
A small hotel inside the airport, bookable by the hour, about ten minutes on foot from Terminal 2 arrivals with no transfer to pay for.
The compromise
Compact rooms, and the ten-minute walk is longer than the walkway hotel above.
Worth paying more?
For a short rest, yes. For a full night, a hotel with a bigger room is the better choice.

Typical total
£94–£154
Who it suits
Travellers with a mid-morning flight who are comfortable boarding a bus.
Why we would choose it
A full hotel on the Hotel Hoppa route to Terminal 2, running from 04:00 to midnight, at a lower rate than the walkway hotel.
The compromise
The bus is charged per person and you board and get off with your bags at both ends. It does not suit an early start.
Worth paying more?
For reduced mobility or an early flight, we would pay the extra for the covered walkway.
