Where to stay for an early flight from Heathrow Terminal 2

The short answer: If you fly before 07:00, stay at the one hotel joined to Terminal 2. For later flights, a hotel on the bus route costs a good deal less.

Who it suits
Departures before 07:00, and anyone with heavy bags or small children.
Why we would choose it
A covered walkway takes you to Terminal 2 in about five minutes. Nothing to book and nothing to wait for.
The compromise
The only walkable full hotel for this terminal, and priced accordingly.
Worth paying more?
Yes, before 07:00. You are buying a later alarm and a morning with no moving parts.

Who it suits
Flights from mid-morning, and travellers who would rather save money than walk.
Why we would choose it
A full hotel a ten-minute bus ride from the terminal, usually for much less.
The compromise
You depend on the bus, which is charged per person. The first departure decides whether it works for you.
Worth paying more?
Over our pick, no: this is the cheaper choice, and the question is whether your flight is early enough to need the walk.

Who it suits
Travellers who only need a few hours of sleep and are happy with a compact room.
Why we would choose it
It is inside Terminal 3, about a ten-minute indoor walk from Terminal 2, and you can book by the hour.
The compromise
A compact hotel in the neighbouring terminal, not a full hotel next to yours.
Worth paying more?
Choose it for the hours, not the price. It suits a short night better than a long one.
