The short answer: The easiest overnight connection at Heathrow. One hotel is in the Terminal 3 arrivals hall, priced by the hour, so you pay for the sleep and little else.

Who it suits
Most overnight connections at Terminal 3, especially gaps of eight hours or less.
Why we would choose it
It is in the Terminal 3 arrivals hall. You walk from arrivals to a bed in minutes, and back to departures just as quickly, paying only for the hours you book.
The compromise
A compact, functional hotel inside an airport terminal, not a full hotel.
Worth paying more?
This is about fit, not price. On a connection, the shortest route to a bed and back is usually what you want.

Who it suits
Long connections where you want a full hotel and will be awake to use it.
Why we would choose it
A full hotel reached through the central-area underpass in eight to ten minutes, under cover and with nothing to catch.
The compromise
A longer walk with bags than staying inside the terminal, at a rate that reflects being the only walkable full hotel.
Worth paying more?
Yes if you want a full hotel. No if you only need to sleep.

Who it suits
Connections of ten hours or more, with a flight after 07:00.
Why we would choose it
A full hotel a bus ride from the terminal, usually for much less, and a long gap has time for the journey.
The compromise
The bus runs about every half hour, so a short gap loses a good part of the night to waiting.
Worth paying more?
For most gaps we would pay for one of the two above. Choose this only if the gap is long.
