Where to stay before a flight from Melbourne Airport Terminal 2 if you prefer a calm, short start

The short answer: Stay at PARKROYAL. It is joined to Terminal 2 by a covered skybridge, so there is no bus to meet and no outdoor walk with bags.

Who it suits
Anyone who wants the shortest, calmest route to Terminal 2 and finds waiting for or boarding a bus tiring.
Why we would choose it
A covered skybridge to Terminal 2, about two minutes on foot. There is no shuttle to meet and no weather to plan around.
The compromise
Usually the most expensive airport hotel here.
Worth paying more?
Yes, if you are trying to take the steps and waiting out of the morning.

Who it suits
Travellers with a mid-morning flight who are happy to take a shuttle.
Why we would choose it
Per the hotel, a free shuttle runs 24 hours, so you can choose a time that suits you rather than a timetable.
The compromise
You board and leave the shuttle with your bags, and sources disagree on whether it is free. The walk is outdoors through a car park.
Worth paying more?
For reduced mobility or an early flight, we would pay the extra for the skybridge.

Who it suits
Confident walkers who want a newer hotel and a mid-morning flight.
Why we would choose it
A hotel opened in 2024, with a walk to Terminal 2 and no vehicle to catch.
The compromise
About ten to fifteen minutes on foot by one forum post, a long way with bags, and we have not confirmed the route is covered or step-free.
Worth paying more?
Only if you are comfortable with the walk. Otherwise PARKROYAL.
