Parking at Melbourne Airport: car parks, valet and hotel park and stay deals

The short answer: For a few nights away, Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport's package and PARKROYAL's park and stay are the clearest hotel deals, and the airport's Value Car Park is the price to beat for longer trips. Check figures before you book, because several sources disagree.

Last checked · How we check

There are four ways to leave a car at Melbourne Airport: the airport's own car parks, a valet service, an off-airport operator, or a hotel that sells a room with parking. The right one depends on how long you are away and whether you need a bed the night before.

Prices and package terms below come from the airport's pages, hotel pages and booking listings. They change, and some sources disagree, so confirm before you book.

The four ways

Best for What to know
Airport car parks Trips of several days The Value Car Park starts at about $12 a day, with a free shuttle every 15 minutes
Valet Skipping the search for a space The airport's valet is about $79 to $84 a day, and Qantas Valet $99 for the first day
Off-airport operator The lowest daily rates Listings start at about $9 a day, and you ride a shuttle
Hotel with parking A night before an early flight A package covers the room and a set number of nights

Airport car parks

Anything beyond a day's parking moves into long-term parking. The Value Car Park is a little further from the terminals, with a free shuttle bus every 15 minutes, and it is the cheapest of the airport's own options. Book ahead, because car parks fill and sell out at busy times.

Valet

The airport runs a premium valet car park, listed at about $79 to $84 a day when booked online. Qantas also runs a valet at the airport, at $99 for the first day and $25 for each further day. Hotel valet is rarer here. We found one listing of valet at ibis Styles Melbourne Airport at $69 a night, and a listing that mentions valet at Novotel Melbourne Airport, neither confirmed.

Hotels that include parking

  • Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport: the clearest package. Park, Stay & Go gives one night's room plus 4, 8 or 15 nights of parking, from $15 a day. Extra nights are $28 if pre-booked and $40 walk-in. It is the only hotel in the precinct with its own ground-floor car park, and a 24-hour shuttle serves the terminals.
  • PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport: the Park and Stay deal gives one night's room and one night of undercover self-parking in the airport's Short Term Car Park, for T1, T2 and T3. Extra nights are $59. A sky bridge links the hotel to the terminal. Members of the Pan Pacific DISCOVERY programme get a further discount. It is bookable until 31 December 2027.
  • ibis Styles Melbourne Airport: a Park and Stay package with secure underground parking for up to 24 hours and a free 24-hour shuttle. The page gives no price.
  • Mantra Melbourne Airport: self-parking listed at $29 a night, with a free shuttle on request.
  • Novotel Melbourne Airport: no package found.
  • ibis Budget Melbourne Airport: uncovered, limited parking listed at $20 a day.

How to choose

  • One night before a flight, away a few days: Holiday Inn's 4-night package or PARKROYAL's single night.
  • A week or more: compare the Value Car Park with Holiday Inn's 8 or 15-night package.
  • No car at the hotel, early flight: see our guide to staying before an early flight.
  • Arriving late: check the shuttle hours before you rely on a hotel without a walk to the terminal.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How many nights of parking are included, and what does an extra night cost?
  • Is it self-park or valet?
  • Does the parking cover the terminal you fly from?
  • Is the shuttle free and available 24 hours?
  • Must the package be booked direct?
