Getting from LAX to Los Angeles

The short answer: Take the FlyAway bus to Union Station, or a LAX Metro Connector shuttle to the LAX/Metro Transit Center for the C and K Lines. Rideshare and taxis pick up at LAX-it. Fares in sources differ, so check LAX's page before you ride.

Last checked · How we check

LA is spread out, and the airport is not on a single train line. Pick the route by where you are going.

FlyAway bus

The FlyAway runs from LAX to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, and drops off on the Upper/Departures Level of each terminal. Most sources list $12.75 one way. One guide still lists $9.75, so check the posted fare. The stop at Union Station is Patsaouras Transit Plaza, Bus Stop 1.

Metro

The LAX/Metro Transit Center opened in June 2025 and links the C and K Lines. A free Metro Connector shuttle links it to the terminals. Metro lists a $1.75 fare. It suits a light bag and a flexible morning, not a tight connection.

Rideshare and taxi

These collect at LAX-it, east of Terminal 1, reached by a free LAX-it shuttle from the Lower/Arrivals Level. Travel times in Los Angeles depend on traffic, so we do not print a time.

The people mover

The Automated People Mover (SkyLink) was due to link the terminals to the Metro Transit Center and has missed several dates. Do not plan a trip around it until LAWA says it is open.
