Our view

Who it suits: A long layover or an overnight connection when you want a real hotel with pools and restaurants, not just a bed.
Why we would choose it: A full five-star in extensive gardens a few minutes from the airport, with a free shuttle and rooms that look over the airport and gardens.
The compromise: It costs roughly twice a budget hotel, the shuttle timetable is unconfirmed, and it is a large resort-style property, so check-in and breakfast can be busy.
Worth paying more?: Yes for a layover of about ten hours or more, or when you want to rest well. No if you only need a few hours of sleep.

The practical details that matter for one night before or after a flight.

Shuttle: The hotel advertises a free airport shuttle. We did not find a timetable or which terminals it serves.
Grounds: Landscaped gardens, five swimming pools and 17 restaurants and bars, per Booking.com.
Rooms: Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, rainforest showers and bathrobes. Some overlook the airport, and some ground-floor rooms open to the pool or gardens.
Family and accessible rooms: Family rooms and wheelchair-accessible rooms are listed. Confirm with the hotel.
Metro: Al Garhoud Metro station is about 1.1 km on foot, per Booking.com.
