Where to stay near Rome Fiumicino Airport

The short answer: Fiumicino has two terminals in use, T1 for Italian and Schengen flights and T3 for everything else, and they sit together. No hotel is inside either one. Hilton Rome Airport is the only one you can walk to, through a covered tunnel with a moving walkway. Hilton Garden Inn has a free shuttle that runs around the clock, and Best Western and Mercure run paid shuttles with set hours. For an early flight, a night at the airport removes the trip from Rome. For a mid-morning flight or later, the Leonardo Express from Termini is a sound choice.
